Venice,
CA –
The weather was perfect for “Be the Solution to Ocean Pollution” in Venice
Beach, a community 5K and beach clean-up held this past Saturday July 14th.
The calm ocean breeze helped cool the runner’s down as they warmed up and
participated in the free 5K event hosted by Children Sports International. This fantastic community event brought together men,
women and children from all over the city to help promote physical activity and
environmental awareness.
The participants
had the chance to learn more about the benefits of sports performance training,
how to prevent injuries with a dynamic warm-up and the importance of beach
clean-ups. In just a couple of hours, close to 100lbs of
garbage were cleaned up from the sands adjacent to the Venice Pier. These
amazing volunteers found items ranging from broken radios to fireworks debris
scattered over the beautiful shoreline. All
the participants in the 5K and clean-up were provided fresh fruits, snacks and
refreshments along with an entry to a raffle for prizes given away at the event.
Children Sports International will continue to
encourage children to get active in sports and active in the community with these
unique events. Don’t miss out on all the fun and activities; join Children Sports International and their dedicated volunteers at the next event in Venice on September 22nd.
